3D Laser Scanning documents history for posterity. Creating an accurate record and a 3D representation of historical or architecturally significant structures, artifacts and artworks.

The Smithsonian Museum is documenting en re collections to preserve the details of unique treasures and to make them available for viewing in 3D by anyone with an internet connection. Historical structures around the world are being scanned and documented before they are gone forever. We can now be a virtual tourist. Walk around the Great Pyramids, explore ancient Roman ruins, examine the details of ancient sailing ships and stroll through museums in 3D.

SANE utilizes 3D Laser Scanning, along with unique work-flows and “target-less” registration technology, to document historical buildings, sites and natural structures for our clients. From historic homes with unique architecture and histories, to once ornate theaters that are being restored to their former glory. We help clients capture every minute detail to create a historical archive or to help artisans and craftsmen to recreate history during restorations.

Our technology collects millions of highly accurate measurements to create a 3D image, called a point cloud. These point clouds can be used by CAD systems and design so ware to create accurate 3D models of structures. These models can be used to restore the objects or structures to their original condition. In addition to the scan data, our technology also takes high definition images during scanning. These images are used to colorize the point cloud data to create a realistic rendering in 3D.
